R3D9: Banana bread is not on plan

Given the amount of snacking I’ve been done lately, I’ve managed to lose weight so that’s something. Still not enough! I need to go a bit harder over the next couple of weeks if I’m going to hit my targets.

Weight: -0.4kg, -2.4kg since the beginning of this “round” (last week). I haven’t really been strict enough! Having my period and hayfever knocks me out a bit. Not a great excuse but the only one I have!

Breakfast: Got up and had to go on conference calls, so skipped to lunch. I guess I’m eating later so it makes sense.

Lunch: Large green salad with red pepper, red onion, olives, chilli, eggs and a bit of apple.

Snack: Almonds, rice crackers, Grenade bar (chocolate fudge brownie).

Exercise: I actually did it! Intervals, arms. 12×3 of Let me ins, lateral raises, underarm let me ins, and towel curls (push down on the towel with your foot and pull up with arms. Felt fine.

Dinner: I had 3 courgette fritters that I’d made yesterday. And 2 pieces of B’s garlic bread… I shouldn’t have, but I love garlic bread! Ach well.

Snack: 3 jelly snakes. I just feel in a snack mood.

Had a complete disaster with the latest new arrival… The Eggmaster! Haha. I ordered it ages ago because it was cheap. It’s really quite an alarming thing to see in motion! T ate the outpourings but I just couldn’t! I’m sure I’ll figure it out in time…

I should have known this was a terrible idea!

Also, I decided completely randomly to make some banana bread. For a few reasons. Firstly my disastrous experience with the Egg Master. Secondly, the brown bananas sitting in the bowl. (B loves bananas but very sporadically so we usually have a few brown ones.)

Reader, I managed it! And I even ate some. I suppose the chocolate chunks helped?

Banana bread: a lockdown essential, apparently

Banana bread

4 ripe bananas
180g plain flour
2.5 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
160g soft light brown sugar
2 eggs
About 40g melted butter
8 dates
100g dark chocolate
3 tsp cinnamon

Heat oven to 170°C.
Mash bananas.
Add all the other ingredients except chocolate and dates and stir.
Chop the dates and chocolate and fold in.
Pour into 2lb loaf tin and bake for approx 45mins-1hr.

  1. That Eggmaster thing is a riot. Do you just drop all your omelet ingredients in there and turn it on?

Yes! It’s horrific! It’s like an extruding sausage… and it really looks obscene! I should have known!
